Biotechnology, mobility, energy, cyberbullying, nanotechnology … the institute society and technology does not avoid difficult subjects. For some subjects it is sufficient to do a short explorative analysis, for other subjects more elaborated research is necessary including participation of stakeholders and citizens.
The institute works according a workprogramme which is based a.o upon a ‘trendwatch’. This trendwatch lists current trends and themes in the field of science, technology and society. This trendwatch is discussed with the European TA institutes ( EPTA), with the Flemish scientific and technological field and with the responsible committees of the Flemish Parliament. Based on this feedback and consultation the workprogramme is produced.
