Nano nu
Nano Nu was the number one festival on the various developments in nanoscience and nanotechnology, that took place in the Flemish Parliament, between 8 and 10 November 2007.
Nano Nu presented some fascinating experiments and scientific insights, but also a series of nanoproducts that already found their way to the market. On the program, there were also film and theatre productions, with a discussion or interactive workshop after each performance. Nano Nu showed creations of Flemish artists who drew inspiration from the nanoscale world. Nano Nu was a festival full of lectures, debates, interviews en talks both with scientists and the lay public, ranging from very intimate meeting to large auditoria. To be short, Nano Nu was a sparkling event, bringing together in the Flemish Parliament in Brussels, all that Flanders has to offer in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology. Over the three days, almost 3.300 people visited Nano Nu.
Some highlights:
Nano expo
In the splendid environment of the Parliament’s ‘Counter Hall’, Flemish universities, research centres and companies demonstrated what nanoscience and nanotechnology really represent.
Nano science theatre
Three times a day, the Dutch theatre company Pandemonia performed a stage play that had been written especially for Nano Nu. After each performance, the public was involved in a discussion on the subject: what did they think of nanotechnology?
Nano movie
Especially for the Nano Nu festival we selected a number of films that give a good idea of the possibilities of nanosciences and nanotechnology. After each screening too, a small discussion has been organized.
Nano dialogue
In the course of the past years, the European Science Museums developed an intriguing mini-exposition on nanoscience and nanotechnology. Especially for Nano Nu, the Flemish Science Museum Technopolis brought it to the Flemish Parliament.
Nano art
Both professional Flemish artists and amateurs drew their inspiration from the nanoscale world. The result was presented on several locations throughout the premises of the Flemish Parliament.
